Steps in the Walk of Faith for HEALING

The Bible teaches us that our walk with God has to be a walk of faith,

2 Corinthians 5:7  (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

The prophet who was raptured Enoch walked with God and Noah the prophet of God’s worldwide judgment, walked with God.

Genesis 5:22  And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
Genesis 5:24  And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
Genesis 6:9  These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God
.

In these days which are like the days of Noah, as we approach the time of the Rapture, how important it is to walk with God.

In all generations, believers (Jew and Gentile) are exhorted with walk in the steps of Abraham.

Romans 4:12  And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

Walking is composed of a sequence of steps. As a daily exercise, I walk a targeted number of 6000 steps which I like to think represents 6000 years from Creation to the second Advent of Messiah.

I heard a physiotherapist teaching someone recovering from arthritis of the spine, what the healthy individual would take for granted: that a walking consists of the following sequence: heel on the floor – flat of the foot on the floor – move weight of body forwards toward toes – lift foot off floor as the next foot advances forward and the sequence starts again – heel, flat, toes, off.

Our walking in faith, can also be thought of as a cycle of four stages..

Step 1. Realise that  all healing comes  from  God through  the  Cross.

Exodus 15:22  So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
23  And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.
24  And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
25  And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
26  And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Through  this  incident  God  revealed  Himself as our  Healer  -that  Healer  is  His very Name and  Nature.  He also  revealed  the specific  basis upon which  He heals –  He does it  by a  TREE, through which  He accomplishes  the  great exchange   of sickness  and  healing.

As all death came through  a  tree (Genesis 3), so all healing and  life  also  comes by a  tree.

The bitter waters represent  all humanity in sickness  of soul and  body.   Into  these  waters  was  cast  a  Tree representing the  Cross, which miraculously soaked up the  bitterness and  released  sweetness into  the  waters.

On the  Cross, Jesus  bore our  sicknesses  and released  healing to us.

Peter confirms  this :

1 Peter 2:24  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

He is  quoting from Isaiah  53 which predicts what Jesus would  do on the  Cross:

Isaiah 53:1  Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2  For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3  He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief (sickness): and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4  Surely he hath borne our griefs (sickness), and carried our sorrows (pains): yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (the literal Hebrew reads, “healing is to us”).

In Matthew 8:16,17,  the  Holy-Spirit  confirms  that  Isaiah  was  talking about  physical  as well  as emotional and  spiritual  healing:

Matthew 8:16  When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
17  That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Step 2. Believe that  God’s  Healing Power  is  available now to be received  by faith.

After purchasing  our  healing on the  Cross Jesus ascended  to heaven and  poured out  the  Holy Spirit upon those assembled in the Upper Room (Acts 2).   The  Spirit communicates the  healing power  of Jesus  to us:.

John 16:14  He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15  All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Now healing is available to all who will believe the report Isaiah referred to in 53:1 (quoted above). He who  believes  the report  of Isaiah 53  will  see  Divine  healing revealed (as shown in 53:4-5).

Healing is available to us through Christ.  We must come  to God  to receive it.  To do this we must believe the report (the good news) of the exchange of the  Cross.  To believe this report, we must first  hear  it.  This report is  the  GOSPEL:

Matthew 10:7  And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Healing is in the Kingdom which is at Hand (so you can reach out and receive).
God’s Healing Anointing is here, it  is  a free-gift.
Healing is revealed through faith. Jesus preached that healing power was present and available :

Luke 5:17  And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

No one  had  been healed  yet.  So how  did  Luke know that the power  of the Lord was  present?

No doubt, it  was  because Jesus must have preached  that.

Hadn’t He declared:

Luke 4:18  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20  And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21  And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

That is: “God’s power  is  here now  upon Me to heal you.”    The  message was  that  healing was  freely  available  for  all.

The book of Acts tells us that this message began to be preached from after John’s baptism.

Acts 10:37  That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38  How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Healing was available but is received by faith.   The power was on Jesus but only flowed through  the channel of faith.
Faith comes by hearing.   So how does faith for healing come?  by hearing the word of healing.

So they  came to hear and  be healed: Luke 6:17-19:

Luke 6:17  And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;
18  And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.
19  And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

They heard:  “God’s power is present now to heal, deliver and restore you”.    They believed and power flowed.
This faith was specifically  that  God’s power to heal  them was present on Jesus and available to flow into them if they received  it.

Step 3. Present your body to God as His Temple purchased by His Blood
and ask Him to fill it with His Healing Power .

This is  the  best  preparation  to receive healing.

1 Corinthians 6:19  …  know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Romans 6:13  Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God (presnt your bodies to Him), as those that are alive from the dead, and your members (the parts of your body) as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Romans 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Step 4.  Release your faith through  a  point of contact.

Mark 5:24  And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
25  And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26  And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27  When she had heard of Jesus
(she heard He was anointed to heal, she believed that healing power was on Him and available for  her), came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
She  was  different  from the  others  who touched  Jesus.   She touched Him in faith thus making contact with and  receiving the anointing that was upon Him.  She established a predetermined timeand place (a point of contact) torelease her faith for healing :
28  For she said (to herself continuously), If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29  And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

30  And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31  And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32  And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

33  But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

34  And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

Understand that the woman had decided to receive her  healing by faith at the moment she touched  Jesus. After power flowed from Him and healed her, He drew attention  to her act of faith and  commended it :

“Daughter, your faith has made you well . ”

She  could only do this because she knew Healing Power  was upon Jesus freely available for everyone, so she did  not make a special request of Him (in fact, the first Jesus knew of it was when the power had flowed from Him!).

“ Immediately the fountain of herblood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.   Jesus,  immediately  knowing  in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”

As soon as she touched Him in faith,  Power flowed from Jesus into her body.   Others touched Him but they were not healed because they were not  believing they received Healing.   Healing Power is always present on Jesus for everyone and is available for us to receive, just as electricity is always present in our homes ready for us to draw upon.   But it only flows into  us when we plug into  it, turn the switch on and draw upon it by faith (believe  we receive it).

Mark 11:24  tells  us how  to receive it  by faith :  “Whatever things (in  God’s  will, such as Healing)  you  desire, when you  pray, believe
you  receive them  (Healing) and  you  will  have them  (Healing).”

It  helps us to release our faith if  we establish in advance a  point of contact for  when we will receive the answer by faith.
That is, we should decide in advance a  time and place when we will  release our  faith to receive God’s Healing Power (just like this  womandid when she said: ‘when I touch the hem of His garment I shall be made whole’ ).

Then (after believing you receive God’s Healing Power) we should thank God for it.    Say: “His Healing Power is now working in me,
I believe I received it, when I prayed.   Thank you,  Lord.”

Once the Power has been received, it  is present in us, but we can cause  it  to be dormant (inactive) by unbelief (not  believing it  is
present).   Thanksgiving  keeps the  switch of faith turned on,  so that the Power will continue to flow and  work to accomplish  its purpose of making us whole

How about using this pattern to disciple ourselves into a faith walk?
  1. Realise that all healing comes from God through  the  Cross.
  2. Believe that God’s Healing Power is available now to be received by faith.
  3. Present your body to God as His Temple purchased by His Blood and  ask  Him to fill  it  with His Healing Power .
  4. Release your faith through a point of contact.
