The Heaven Page

This page will present Biblical information about Heaven, its indescribable glory, what we will be like in Heaven, etc.

At present the page is under construction.

I’d like to begin with a quotation from Joni Eareckson Tada. Her earthly body was paralyzed from the shoulder down when she dived into shallow water as a teenager. For years, her heart has been set on heaven. It has been said that when one talks with her, one is drawn to the very edge of heaven and we get a glimpse of that Better Land.

I still can hardly believe it. I, with shriveled, bent fingers, atrophied muscles, gnarled knees and no feeling from th shoulders down, will one day have a new body, light, bright and clothed in righteousnss – powerful and dazzlig.

It’s esy for me to “be joyful in hope”, as it says in Romans 12:12, and that’s exactly wht I’ve been doing for th past twenty-odd years. My assurnce of heaven is so alive tht I’ve been making dates with friends to do ll sorts of fun things once we get our new bodie … I don’t tke these appointments lightly. I’m convinced these things will really happen.

What is the Present Heaven LIke?
A wold of unimaginable splendor, and yet we’ll be completely at home in it – and that’s only the present heaven which will take us up until Revelation 20. Revelation 21 and 22 describe the New Jerusalem, and the creation of the New Heavens and the New Earth.

New Jerusalem
In this page, we will catch a glimpse of the glories of the New Jerusalem, and theNew Heaven and the New Earth

The Better Land by Felicia Herman. I’ve loved this poem from childhood.

The Better Land, devotional by James Smith 1860, a devotional dear to me at age seventy four!

Who, in the BIble, had caught a glimpse of Heaven while they were on earth?

Moses and the Elders on Mount Sinai

Exodus 24:9-11
9 Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:
10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
11 And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.’

Isaiah’s vision of the Throne

Isaiah 6:1  In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2  Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3  And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Paul when he was caught up into the third heaven.

2 Corinthians 12:2  I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
3  And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)

4  How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
5  Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.
6  For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.

Bible scholars are convinced that the “man in Christ” was Paul himself who didn’t want to get glory for himself out of this testimony.

Paul is at a loss to describe what he saw:

1 Corinthians 2:9  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

John on the Isle of Patmos. Reve;atopm 4-5 (the Throne Room of God), 21-22 (the Heavenly City, New Jerusalem)

But beware! In these days of “Christian televion”, YouTube, marketing of books, DVDs and the like, testimonies abound which amount to a touristic view of heaven, the “traveler is taken to parks, orchards, etc., view storehouses containing body parts which, the “Jesus” they meet tells them are fulll, but should in fact be empried every day by those who appropriate what God has given in answer to prayers. No kidding.

Such testimonies build up pictures of False Heavens often attractively packaged with false theology, false gospel, tught by false Christs, et.c,. Beware lest you be deceived
