Jesus was cursed with every sickness and disease, even those not included in the law
Deuteronomy 28:61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
He let His body on the cross be so marred that it did not even resemble a man.
Isaiah 52:14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
He did all this to redeem us from the curse of the law:
Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Isaiah 53:4 ¶Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Healing, just like salvation, was purchased by Jesus at Calvary; and, just like salvation, it must be received by faith.
Luke 7:50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
Luke 18:42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Faith is the gift of God. But what is the divinely appointed way to receive faith?
Faith comes by hearing
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Galatians 3:5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Hearing cometh by the Word of God.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; … the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Seeing, hearing and understanding in the heart, is linked to healing:
Matthew 13:15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
Jesus is saying blessed are your eyes that see, and your ears that hear, as contrasted with those of gross heart, for if they “see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, I would heal them”.
Proverbs 4:22 tells us that God’s words are life to those that find them and medicine to all their flesh.
We can learn from the above that as we speak the Word of God concerning healing, God’s power will become active just the same as when Jesus spoke to the fig tree.
Mark 11:12 23 And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:
13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
15 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
16 And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.
17 And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.
18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
19 And when even was come, he went out of the city.
20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
The words He spoke, “No man eat fruit of you hereafter, forever” went into the roots of the tree. At the time, nothing seemed change. It was not until the next day that they could see the leaves had dried up.
Be sure of this: Once the Word of God goes forth, it will attack the roots of the sickness and bring about your deliverance.
God’s Word will not return to Him void, but it will accomplish that for which God sent it out.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
