Saint

Most of us do not go around calling each other “saints”. But this term is used in more than 25 passages (besides the greetings and closings of Paul’s letters). The word “saint” is related to the word “sanctified”, not just in English, but also in Greek and Hebrew. Therefore being a saint is related to being holy. When Paul, Luke and others use this term, the focus of meaning is on the saint’s special relationship with God, which is an aspect of what holiness means. Notice that the word does not refer to saints in heaven, but to saints on earth, which is who we are if we are believers and disciples, and therefore, in the truest sense, Christian.
