Jeremiah 20 verse 9

Jeremiah 20:9  Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

When God calls someone to issue a warning (or warnings) on His behalf, it is hard, and sometimes there are painful consequences from the disobedient whom we warn. There’s a strong temptation to be like Jonah. Or like John Mark who left Paul’s team and went back.

But God had an obedient man in Jeremiah. No matter what the cost, Jeremiah tired of his own silence, his reluctance to make mention of Him, to speak any more in His Name. The word that he had heard burned in his fire like a fire shut up in his bones, and he couldn’t stay silent any longer.

May it be so with us when we are called upon to carry God’s warnings to His people or to the world … specially to His people.

May we be overcomers. May have the obedient spirit that overcomes our own hesitations, our fears, our reluctance, and may we be prepared to speak the warning and take the consequences.
