1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
I know of some who have had a near death or death experience and returned to life on earth. Some of these describe what they experienced on the other side of death. Betty Maltz is an example. I personally met Dr. Richard Eby in Seoul, South Korea. Dr. Eby said that the Lord had told him that there was very little time left for the Rapture, and that he would be alive to see it. (He told me personally that he didn’t expect we would go far into the 1980s, and thought 1983 was very likely the year of the rapture!) Obviously this was a false prophecy. How much reliance can we place on the rest of what Dr. Eby reported? Do we believe too easily because we want to believe?
I am particularly suspicious of the source of their vision when they describe things that go beyond what the Scripture reveals.
There are other parts of Scripture, for example, Revelation 21 and 22, which give us as much information as we need during our life-time here.
We should patiently await our turn to actually make the permanent transition to Eternity when everything will become clear, and we will see the Throne Room of God, and the face of our blessed Savior Jesus Christ, and be transformed into His likeness.
Beware of inordinate curiosity about details of the heavenly realm. Beware of overeagerness to attend testimonies of those who have been there and returned.
Before believing everything said in such testimonies, study the Scriptures about Heaven (which I shall upload on this site in fhe near future, God willing).
However, I must admit that there are testimonies whose descriptions are Scriptural and edifying. This one is by a sound Bible teacher whose internet ministry I value. He shares a glimpse of heaven that he saw when he died clinically three times on the operation table during the cardiologist-surgeon’s attempts to resuscitate him (after having been brought to the hospital dead!) He does not go into a tourist-like description heaven (like some do), but everything he shares seems to be sound and in accordance with the Scriptures, including 1 Corinthians 2:9-10. Read, enjoy, and be edified.
I may post links to some of these testimonies under Useful Links (after I’ve scrutinized and weighed them carefully in the Scriptural balance), but whatever I may put there should be read with great discernment. Ask the Holy Spirit for the wisdom to have correct discernment, and compare everything with Scripture.
